Adventures With Sissy
by Betty Stewart

I will relate this here cause no one seems to add to the "I Remember" section.(Thanks Fordy for your great Stuff).............
We had been to Charlotte, Sissy and I about 4 years ago and were coming back home following Ford and Robby. It was in Asheville ,N.C. in a blinding snow storm that we lost them after realizing we were following two strangers in a white BMW just like Fords. This really excited Sis as she said "Now we can stop when we want to". We did. Several times. It was getting later, still snowing.

Sis: Lets go to Gatlinburg ! We dont have to be in a hurry now.
Me: Sis we really need to get down this mountain before it gets any worse. It may be worse in Gatlinburg and the roads are BAAAD.
Sis: It doesnt matter, we can spend the night there.
Me: I dont know, sis.....But OK only I cant stay the night. Jimmy will have a fit.

Now you have to know folks. Sis doesnt drive and doesnt think too much about driving conditions and who could ever say No to Sissy, a person who never asks for anything.
So we go to Pigeon Forge and have Dinner. Its snowing like who would have thought it. I am so nervous I am swallowing my food whole and saying,"Look at it, Sissy, we have got to get out of here".
Sis: OK Betty we will just go to one store, Old Time Pottery, and then we will leave.
Me:(Thinking but not saying it. She picks the biggest store in town).

While Sis is happily shopping I slip off to a pay phone and call Jim and He unloaded . Calls have been flying between Charlotte , Manchester, Nashville, Lewisburg, Chapel Hill, Carthage like crazy. Robby and Ford have made it home with the last time they saw us was in Asheville and family was alerting the Highway Patrol in two states and needless to say we were in BIG Trouble.
Well, we are traveling down this snow covered Interstate, slipping and skidding passing cars in ditches and finally this side of Cookeville in this Dark awful night an 18wheeler passed us flying and leaning over on the passenger side and that got Sissys attention. Up to now she hadnt said a word about the hazardous driving but she yelled"Watch out Betty, I dont want to die ,20 miles from home." I said"Where do you want to die, Sis, In Gatlinburg? She said,"Well yes , that would be Better than
here on Chestnut Mound." Then we got tickled and I could finally unclench my hands off the steering wheel.
"Thank you Lord for looking after two Women in A Snow Storm".
