The Red Birds Source: Lois Elizabeth Lefler Harris Franklin DeVere Greene, born- 10-1-1953 Died- 12-1-10-1969 Frankie, as he was called by his family and friends was a good son. nice personality, good student, good church member, popular among his griends, and taleented. On the night of Dec. 10th 1969, Frankie and a church group were doing a Christmas Church Concert some miles from Winston Salem, NC. The night was dark, rainy and cold. Frankie with three companions were traveling with a young girl driving. Thinking they were behind and late she pulled out in front of another car, straight into the path of an oncoming truck. A terrible crash and three teenagers were killed. Frankie was one of them. Shocked and distressed for days, the family prayed that God someway or somehow would show them that Frankie was allright. His mother prayed days on end after the accident that God would show her that Frankie was safe in his arms. She cried constantly. Early one morning Frankies father arose from his bed, went into the kitchen and walked over to the sink where there was a window which looked out into the backyard. He was amazed at the sight he saw , calling out to Clara to come to him. She approached the window looking out of that window that morning was the answer to their prayers. The entire back yard was covered in beautiful RED BIRDS. Red Birds were everywhere. They stood in amazement. This was the answer. God had sent this covey of red birds as his answer. A tremendous feeling of peace came over them. They knew that Frankie was safe in the arms of God. (This is a true story). |
