| The tragic lives of Goldson Long Almond and Lois Moore Long Almond , the young son of Calvin F. and Verlyn Ficquett Almond, met and fell in love with Lois Moore , a beautiful young girl . They became engaged and were making plans to be married. While riding a motorcycle , he lost control of it , wrecked and suffered multiple injuries. During his recovery period from the accident , he contracted Typhoid Fever, causing his death on June 12, 1918. Lois was devastated , as was his family. It has always been told , through various family members, that each night Lois visited his grave, grieving for their lost love, until she became unstable and was placed in a mental hospital at Millersville.Ga., where she remained until her death in 1972. Long Almond and Lois Moore are buried in the Bowman Cemetery , in Bowman Ga. |
