FORWARD
When
thinking of our ancestors, whether their deeds be great or small, please remember theirs
were deeds that should not pass away. Names which should not wither.
No family history can ever be complete. It is not static, but it
is dynamic in nature. New members are born, the older generation dies. No matter how good
our intentions, to insure that a loved one is not forgotten, in just a few short years a
new generation grows up without the benefit of personal contact with that particular
individual.
The new generation becomes the old generation. Perhaps a story or
two of our loved ones survives.Soon the name is forgotten. In a hundred years or so a
descendant of the family wanders through a long and forgotten cemetery and is startled to
see their own name on a tombstone. Perhaps they wonder "Was this a near relative of
mine? What was he or she like and how do they fit into my family picture?"
The purpose of these pages is twofold. FIRST--An attempt to
record what is known about the LEFLERS,the TAYLORS the ALMONDS,the SWARTZLANDERS and the
HARRIS families of North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. The second purpose is
to generate an interest in preserving the past and faithfully recording the future of
these families.
Anyone who reads this record and has any additional knowledge,
information or corrections is invited to submit it. Current information of personal
families (births, dates, marriages, etc} is desired. Services records and or pictures {which
may be scanned and returned } are also desired for this family history.
My hope is that you will enjoy a look into your ancestry and will
share it with others!!!!!
