How the Ficquett Family Came to America- Source: Oscar Frazier (Uncle Doll) Almond and handed down through the Almond Family Albert Ficquett came to America (year uncertain) from France. He came sometime during the American Revolution. He later tried to return to France but on the return trip the ship was overtaken by pirates. He was robbed of a fortune estimated to be about $30,000 in gold. The ship landed in England, where he was placed in prison.. It is said he became friends with a guard at the prison, and a deal of sorts was managed between them, and he escaped prison. He then returned to his native land of France. He later decided to return to America,was successful and put into port in New York. In New York ,he met and married Betsy Ann Wagner an American. In time they moved to Georgia,settling near the town of Conyers. |
